Emergency Lighting in Scarborough
Harex takes scheduled work in Scarborough for contract clients, typically multi-site owners who want one contractor and one set of records across Durham and the east GTA. Travel is billed, and a contractor local to a single Scarborough building will usually beat Harex on price for one-off work.
Toronto Fire Services. Scarborough is inspected by Toronto Fire Services' Fire Prevention Division, which inspects every occupancy type across the city's six Scarborough wards under the Fire Protection and Prevention Act. Toronto publishes fire inspection results for public buildings, and charges for inspection services under Municipal Code Chapter 441, so a Scarborough owner's record is more public and more expensive to re-inspect than a Durham owner's.
Harex forwards every completed emergency lighting report for a Scarborough building to Toronto Fire Services, so the building is on record as maintained with the department that would otherwise be the one to notice a lapse. Why it fails inspection so often
Emergency lighting is the easiest system in a Durham Region building to forget, and the easiest for an inspector to test: they press the button. Batteries lose capacity quietly, so a unit that lights up for ten seconds can still fail the full-duration test the code actually requires.
